Connect Tally to a live dashboard, without exporting Excel
A step-by-step guide to connecting Tally Prime or Tally ERP 9 to a live dashboard using the AnalytAI Tally plugin. Read-only, safe, no Excel exports.
If you run an Indian business, your books are almost certainly in Tally, either Prime or ERP 9. And almost certainly, “getting a number out of Tally” looks like this: someone opens Tally, exports an Excel, applies filters, copies, pastes, formats, emails. Hours, every week.
This guide shows the other way: connect Tally once, and watch a dashboard update by itself.
What you need
- Tally Prime or Tally ERP 9, running on a Windows machine that stays on during business hours.
- An AnalytAI workspace (we will set this up on a call).
- 20 minutes.
Step 1: Install the AnalytAI Tally plugin
The plugin runs on the same Windows machine as Tally. It is read-only: it reads vouchers, ledgers, stock items, masters. It never modifies your books.
After install, the plugin appears as a small icon in your system tray. Right-click and pick the company you want to share with AnalytAI.
Step 2: Pick what you want to see
In your AnalytAI workspace, you can pick from a few ready-made dashboards:
- Owner dashboard: sales, cash, overdue, top customers, top branches.
- Receivables: party-wise ageing, days overdue, follow-up list.
- GST: input credit, output liability, party-wise GSTIN, mismatches.
Or you can ask in plain English. “Show me top 10 customers by sales this month” works. So does “Which parties have I not received money from for more than 60 days”.
Step 3: Pin and schedule
Once an answer looks right, pin it to a dashboard. Then schedule a report (say, every Monday at 9 am to the owner’s email).
That is the whole loop. Books in Tally, answers on a dashboard, reports in inbox.
What the plugin does not do
- It does not write to Tally.
- It does not modify vouchers.
- It does not delete anything.
- It does not need your Tally login.
Common questions
Does this work with our old Tally ERP 9? Yes. Both Tally Prime and Tally ERP 9 are supported.
Will it slow Tally down? No. The plugin reads in small batches and respects Tally’s working hours.
What if our Tally is in a different city? Use the Edge Sync Runner. It connects to Tally over the local network and pushes data securely to your AnalytAI workspace.
